The relief charity ADRA identified vulnerable communities in Cambodia, Burma, the Philippines and Rwanda who were suffering from hostile environments due to climate change effects, poverty, and other issues. They asked us to provide sustainable, comprehensive, community-based solutions which would allow these communities to achieve food security.

 

The project included training and the development of food production for communities, which allowed them to access adequate and diverse foods year-round through organic kitchen and community gardens. The project also involved post-harvest processing, storage and food preparation, seeds saving, and climate change coping mechanisms.

 

This is one of the biggest projects we’ve undertaken so far. To get a sense of its scale, in Rwanda over 13,000 kitchen gardens were created and maintained because of the initiative.
